gulu is the acronym for the Linux Users Group of the University of Geneva (UniGE).
gulu is a non-profit association governed by these statutes and Articles 60-80 of the Swiss Civil Code. The association's headquarters are in Geneva.
gulu's purpose is to promote Linux at the University of Geneva.
Any person interested in using and promoting the Linux operating system and/or free software at the University of Geneva may become a member of the association. Applications are made using the form on the association's website and are processed by the committee, which may refuse them without giving reasons.
Each member has the right to withdraw from the association at any time by simply sending an email to the committee.
On the recommendation of the committee, the general assembly may expel a member who, through their behavior or statements, seriously contravenes the aims and interests of the association.
The General Assembly of Gulu is the supreme body of the association and meets at least once a year. It is convened by the committee or at the request of at least 1/5 of the association's members. The General Assembly has the following powers:
it defines the life of the association;
it elects a committee consisting of a president, a secretary, a treasurer, and another member for a one-year term and may dismiss them at any time;
it is responsible for the management of the association;
it approves the admission of new members;
it delegates the tasks resulting from Article 2.
The General Assembly makes its decisions and votes by a simple majority of those present.
The committee is composed of at least three members elected for one year by the General Assembly, who may be dismissed by it at any time. Their term of office is renewable indefinitely. The committee meets as often as its work requires. The committee implements the directives it receives from the General Assembly.
The General Assembly may dissolve the association provided that two-thirds of its members are present and agree to do so.
The association's ordinary resources are as follows:
membership fees
subsidies, donations, bequests
These statutes shall enter into force upon their adoption by the General Assembly.
