We are pleased to invite you to participate in a discussion next week with Richard Stallman, the founder of the Free Software Foundation and the founder and development leader of the GNU operating system, on the topic of “Free Software and Freedom in Computing”. The discussion will not be technical, rather the intent is to engage with the wider community of people who are interested by the topic of freedom in computing. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 26, starting at 17:00, at Uni Dufour in room U300 (Rue du Général-Dufour 24, 1204 Genève). Seats are available on a first-come first-served basis. There is no cost to participate, and no need to register in advance. Richard Stallman will begin by speaking about the goals and philosophy of the Free Software Movement, and the status and history of the GNU operating system, which in combination with the Linux kernel is now used by tens of millions of users around the world. The presentation will take place in English, while the resulting discussion will mix English and French as preferred by the person asking the question. We look forward to seeing many of you on March 26! Best regards, The Organisers (Bastien Chopard, Victor Moreno, and Steven Schramm)
